Burgundy Truffle — Autumn Truffle
Tuber uncinatum
CHARACTER
Tuber uncinatum is the autumn truffle — closely related to the scorzone but found later in the season and significantly more aromatic. Its star-shaped warted exterior is striking under close light. Found across France, Italy and into Eastern Europe, it represents excellent value for the quality of experience it delivers. Often overlooked in favour of the white or black pregiato — which makes it one of the best-kept secrets in the truffle world.
Aroma profile
Rich and autumnal: dark chocolate, roasted hazelnut, dried mushroom, warm oak. Fuller than the summer scorzone — closer to the black pregiato in character, more accessible in price.
